4 x 6 Photo Love: Week 4

A couple of days ago it was time for Shimelle's monthly 4 x 6 Photo Love post which was just what I needed to jump start my creativity this week. I'm really loving sketches at the moment, and I just can't seem to scrapbook without them. Hopefully I'll get around to doing the other three months soon.

This layout was inspired by that post and the sketch, here is the layout with the flap down:

Here is the layout with the flap up:

I'm not sure why the tone of these photos is different as I took them one after the other with my camera, and both without a flash, weird! The papers I've used are all Heather Bailey from Autumn Leaves which are just gorgeous.
I love taking photos of flowers but I never know what to do with them, so this sketch was perfect for these photos as I could hide a couple of extra photos underneath the flap and there wasn't really any need for journaling on this one.

Are you taking part in Shimelle's 4 x 6 Photo Love too? I wonder how she'll manage to fit 12 photos on?

  5. I agree with Alexa... I'm starting to think I should have joined in!
This is a lovely page and I think the flap is great. I put something like that on my "Great Studio Disaster" layout, as I wanted 3 photos, but only one big one showing on the top.
My camera also does something like that with colours. I think it's just because you have moved a little bit closer/further away and the light quality/amount has changed. I usually take 2 or 3 shots at least, of whatever it is, so I can pick the best one. That does help - so does the "Remove Colour Cast" option in Photoshop (though I had to read the instructions and practise to get it right.) A white background also helps to "ground" the photo and help the camera work out the colours. Hope this helps!

On a different subject - thanks for the nice comment about my book-binding post on Wednesday. You could make a Sock Monkey too... try this post on my blog, where I wrote a tutorial! http://lizziemade.blogspot.com/2009/12/monkey-madness.html

  6. Hi Helen, Just popped by to thank you for your comment on my blog and took a look at a few of your posts. I love the colours in this layout both of the flowers and the layout itself. And I have to say your wedding dress looks absolutely gorgeous.
